On participation in the 14th Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights

The 14th annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was held in Geneva from November 24 to 26, 2025. The event brought together over 1,200 participants, including representatives of international organizations, government agencies, national human rights institutions, the academic and expert community, as well as business and non-governmental organizations.

As part of the Forum, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by A. Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Center, participated in a special panel session on "Preserving Achievements in Business and Human Rights in Central, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia amid Political Crisis."

The session focused on current human rights challenges in the context of geopolitical instability and the transformation of corporate responsibility mechanisms. Participants included L. Jakuleviciene, member of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights; E. Uvarova, UNDP expert; S. Tošković, Executive Director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights; M. Gavuneli, President of the National Human Rights Commission of Greece; and others.

In his speech, A. Saidov presented Uzbekistan's national experience in integrating human rights standards into the business environment, as well as the measures being implemented within the framework of the national human rights strategy. Particular attention was paid to fostering a culture of respect for human rights in business, developing dialogue between the public and private sectors, as well as training personnel and improving the legal literacy of entrepreneurs.

The presentations by the session participants reaffirmed the need to maintain the progress achieved in the area of human rights and expand international cooperation, taking into account contemporary challenges.
